The BOPYG is an annual event celebrating the region’s top young horticulture professionals. Contestants compete in practical and theory-based challenges that test their skills, knowledge, and leadership in the horticulture industry.

Yes! The general public is welcome to attend the competition and evening awards dinner. Tickets are required for the awards dinner.

Daytime viewing of the competition is free, while tickets for the dinner/awards evening are $140+BF per person.

Contestants complete a series of practical and theoretical challenges, deliver speeches, and showcase leadership skills. The event culminates in an awards dinner where the regional winner is announced.

The event is organised by the Bay of Plenty Young Grower Upskilling Committee and NZKGI, supported by sponsors.
